ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — The Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting and grand opening on Thursday, Sept. 3 at You & Me Clothing Co., located in the Greer’s Shopping Center, 21951 Alabama 59 Suite G in Robertsdale.

The mother and daughter operation is run by Cloe Malone and her mother Sonya Smith.

“Mama is the glue that holds everything together,” Malone said. “She runs the day-to-day operations and I do a lot of the work behind the scenes.”

A science teacher at Robertsdale High School, Malone also coaches volleyball and softball for the Lady Bears. She said her plan is to one day retire from teaching and coaching and open a general merchandise store specializing in handmade items.

“I make all the children’s clothing and mama makes the preserves that we have for sale,” she said. “I also make candles and we have handmade jewelry and pottery. I try to get handmade items as much as I can.”

Peyton Grantham, who also coaches softball and volleyball at RHS, also makes handmade signs that are sold in the shop, Malone said.

Malone and her family have been in the Robertsdale area about six years, she said. She has been teaching and coaching at the high school for about two years. The shop was originally located further north on Alabama 59 and was originally called Sweet Ivey’s named after Malone’s daughter.

“She is my first child. This is like my second child,” she said. “The other location was just too small and we needed a bigger location. We’re hoping that when we open the general merchandise store, we’ll be able to move into an even bigger location somewhere. I just want to say how much we appreciate the Chamber and the Robertsdale community for their support.”
