BAY MINETTE, Ala.  -- The Sun Chiefs women improved to 3-1 in conference play with a 72-70 home win over Bishop State Tuesday night. Trailing 69-66 with 42 seconds left, Jacquetta Dailey’s 3-pointer tied the score and Ashley Daffin’s last second trey secured the win.
“It’s always good to get a home win in a conference game and I’m glad we didn’t fold after they got a big lead. We played a little ragged early and not happy about that, but I challenged (my players) at halftime and we got the momentum back and held on. We made shots when they mattered. We did a better job in the second half on the boards and didn’t give them the put backs we did in the first half. Bishop’s always a battle to the bitter end, so a good win to get at home.
The Lady Chiefs are home Thursday (Jan. 24) to host Coastal-North at 5:30 p.m. Travel to Wallace-Selma Monday and back home on Feb. 1 to host Lawson at 5:30 p.m.
