Elberta’s German Sausage Festival returns March 27

ELBERTA - The Elberta German Sausage Festival is returning as an in-person event on Saturday, March 27 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The festival, which takes place on the last Saturday of March and October each year, was held as a drive-thru event in 2020. This year, the rain or shine event is returning to the town park (intersection of County Road 83 and Highway 98, directly across from Town Hall.) Admission into the festival is free. Handicap parking will be reserved around the Police Department and Town Hall.

“This will be the full, in-person festival. We’re encouraging people to wear masks and social distance. There will be sanitizing stations out, and we’ll take temps as festival-goers enter the beer tent,” said Mayor Pro-Tem Steve Kirkpatrick.

The festival boasts continuous entertainment for adults and children, over 200 arts and crafts booths, and of course, Elberta’s famous “One With Two Without” German sausage & sauerkraut. Other items on the menu will include German style filled cabbage, potato salad, goulash, red beans & rice, hamburgers, hot dogs, BBQ sandwiches, ice cream, popcorn and peanuts. You’ll find baked goods and vendors set up to sell, as well as carnival rides, polka, country, contemporary and German music.

All proceeds from the festival benefit the Elberta Volunteer Fire Department. The department puts on the festival twice each year to raise funds for improvements to the department as well as the town. Local non-profit organizations benefit from the festival through proceeds from booth sales and parking lot fees. An estimated 6,000 pounds of German sausage are sold at each festival.
