FOLEY - Corn mazes, pumpkin patches, and spooky haunts - all things that bring thoughts of autumn to mind. OWA is delivering its own brand of fall-time fun this season with its first ever Fall Festival, coming to the family destination on Sat., Sept. 21 and continuing every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through Nov. 3.

The Fall Festival will kick off at 4 p.m. on Sept. 21, and will feature special performances by the Poarch Band of Creek Indian Dancers, Princesses, and Pow-wow Clubs. Afterwards, the outdoor festival will give guests the opportunity to enjoy a wide-variety of activities including a petting zoo, pumpkin patch, pony and camel rides, food trucks, artisans, and two separate corn mazes. OWA’s signature “blue pumpkin” will be introduced during the festival and will be available for purchase. Festival goers may enter for free, though some activities may be an extra charge.

For those looking for a fall activity a little more geared towards Halloween with a higher scare-rate, the Town of Terror will be returning for the third year. This time, guests are invited to enter Hotel MitcHELL, where guests check in, but don’t check out. The indoor horror house experience features local scare actors, and will open along with the Fall Festival on Sept. 21. Once dusk falls, head back to the festival grounds to try your luck inside the haunted corn maze, or if you’re looking for a Halloween experience with less of a fright hop over to the family-friendly Park After Dark series, taking place within the Park at OWA.

“We decided to incorporate so many staple fall activities into the festival, as well as signature Halloween inspired events, so everyone could enjoy a variety of options all in one place,” said Kristin Hellmich, OWA’s Director of Marketing/PR. “Whether you’re looking for the iconic pumpkin patch photo, corn maze fun, scares inside a haunted house, or trick-or-treating, OWA will have it all this year.”

The festival will feature a recurring special Tribal exposition with assistance from the Poarch Band of Creek Indians Tribal Members and Cultural Team. The exposition will be open every Saturday during festival hours. Guests can walk through and see authentic and replica artifacts from the Tribe’s history, watch live demonstrations and speakers, and partake in hands-on experiences with a variety of Tribal artisans. The exhibit will be free.

“We are honored to share the story of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians through this one-of-a-kind, interactive experience,” said Hellmich. “Guests can immerse themselves in the history, stories and craftsmanship each Saturday during the festival, which begin immediately following the Opening Ceremony on September 21.”

OWA’s Fall Festival will be located on the eastern side of the property, adjacent to the Foley Beach Express. A trolley will run every 30 minutes from OWA’s Clocktower to take guests to and from the festival grounds, and parking will be free.
