The 2020 Gulf Shores Municipal Election ballot was full of choices this year with 13 candidates vying for a seat at the Gulf Shores City Council table.

Mayor Robert Craft faced opposition for the first time since being elected in 2008. John E. Bays  Jr. ran against Craft for mayor but in the end, Craft won with over 63% of the vote.

Four of the five Gulf Shores City Council members also faced opposition. Incumbent Jason Dyken will retain place four after winning 54.97% of the vote over Angie Swiger and Tim Clayborn. Incumbent Steve Jones beat out Cheryl Connell with 59% of the vote.

A run-off election between the top two candidates running for City Council Place 1 and City Council Place 2 will take place Oct. 6. Incumbent Joe Garris will face Bill Coyne for Place 1 and incumbent Gary Sinak will face Michelle Stancil.
