King crowns 2020 holiday season with generosity blitz

In partnership with Daphne Target, Kenny King's Charities help make Christmas dreams of children come true

DAPHNE, Ala. – Daphne High head coach and athletic director Kenny King along with his nonprofit organization, Kenny Kings Charities “KKC” and the Daphne Target store are in the Christmas shopping spree season spirit again.

“This year, we and many volunteers hosted the seventh Christmas Shop-A-Thon in association with the

Daphne Target under the wonderful management of Target Manager Cherise Thomas,” King said.

“Our KKC Board and Sponsors selected 32 elementary/middle school children in the Daphne community. Each child received a free Christmas shopping spree at the Daphne Target on Monday, December 21, 2020.

They were also paired with their favorite Daphne Trojans football player and their own personal Target shopper to make their Christmas dreams a reality.”

The former Daphne High Trojan gridiron star was especially happy and grateful that despite the pandemic-related hurdles of 2020, they were able to host their annual KKC Christmas Shop-A-Thon in a safe way for all. He added that the nonprofit organization that was created in 2003 to, as he said:

“Assist the youth in my communities with avoiding the struggles I encountered at their age. I am proud to state that KKC supplies youth social enhancement series, athletic opportunities (football, cheerleading, and track), a health and nutrition initiative, Tackling Reading program, ACT Prep Courses, and many other programs and scholarships for male and female first - 12th graders throughout the communities of Baldwin County, Alabama and Maricopa County, Arizona.

King also expressed gratitude to the many sponsors and volunteers for helping the event to grow and reach more children in the community,

“I am extremely proud that we were able to increase the number of children this year because of our very generous sponsors: Mr. William Jones, What’s Cluckin Restaurant, Valor Steel Buildings, Bombay, Mr. & Mrs. Matthew Wells, Mr. George Williams, Kenny King Charities, and Target, Inc.

“I would also like to extend special thanks to Mrs. Cherise Thomas and the entire Daphne Target staff, our Daphne Trojans Football players, Daphne Elementary Principal Benita Battle, Ruff Wilson Center Director Tracie Brown and all of our Daphne Feeder Pattern Principals and staff.

“Together we were able to put smiles on their faces and bring them a Christmas they will remember. Thanks again to everyone involved for your consideration and continuous support.”
