Magnolia Springs Public Library hosts Adoption Thursday

MAGNOLIA SPRINGS - Looking to adopt a cat or kitten? If you’re looking for a new pet and would like to meet some potential companions, the Magnolia Springs Public Library is the perfect Thursday stop where you can be introduced to some furry friends looking for a loving home. Every Thursday throughout the year, from noon to 5, the Magnolia Springs Public Library welcomes visiting felines sponsored by the Stray Love Foundation. Cats and kittens are brought in from their foster homes, and the felines are free to explore among the books and are eager to meet visitors to the library.

During what is known as Adoption Thursday by the Stray Love Foundation, and dubbed Cat-erday by the library, families can come in to check out a book and to play with the cats. When a feline clicks with a family, then the library offers the adoption forms to be filled out to get the process rolling and to place the kitty into their new forever home.

“We have found homes for quite a few,” said Alida Given, Library Board Member. “Kids make a point of coming to play with them. It makes for unforgettable fun times.”

Once guests enter the library, they are greeted by the furry visitors, who have free roam of the library while they are there. This way, families can interact with the cats just as they would at home, by playing with them, holding them, and having the felines accompany them as they browse through the books or take a moment to read.

“There is not a time we don't thank Stray Love for assisting so many pets,” Given said.

While the Magnolia Springs Library tries to host the cats every Thursday that they are open, it’s always a good idea to call ahead to make sure in case a foster family is unable to make it that day, or if they are running late. The Library can be reached at 251-965-2305, or you can check their website at MagnoliaSpringsLibrary.org.

The Stray Love Foundation is a non-profit organization that rescues animals and does what they can to place them in loving homes. The organization is foster based, and they are always looking for volunteers and fosters who are willing to open their home to an animal in need. If you’re looking for a new cat or dog, they have many waiting for adoption. For more information on the Stray Love Foundation, to search through their adoption list, or to become a foster, visit their website at StrayLoveFoundation.org or give them a call at 251-540-2236.
