The residents of Orange Beach have spoken, and it is clear they are happy with the city’s leadership. Mayor Tony Kennon faced opposition for the first time since 2008 by Dan “Gilley” Hayes.
While Orange Beach has roughly 6,000 full time residents only 2,521 ballots were cast but it was enough for Kennon to defeat Hayes with 66% of the vote.
“The turn out was great and my family and I appreciate all the support that we received, and we do not have the words to express our appreciation and gratitude. I am happy to see our council stay together as we have a lot to get done in the next four years,” Kennon said.
Incumbent Joni Blalock and Annette Mitchell will retain their position on the Orange Beach City Council as well. Blalock beat out Joe Fierro with 63% of the votes and Mitchell beat out Joe Cardwell with 52.49% of the vote.
