Showcase home merges tradition and modern

Modern. Rustic. Industrial. Gorgeous.

The 2019 Parade of Homes Showcase Home is all of this and more.

Nestled deep in the blooming Verandas neighborhood near the junction of Highways 181 and 104, Eric Craig, of Eric Craig Homes, Inc., said the build was inspired simply by his own likes.

“I’m really a rustic guy,” he said. “We wanted a bunch of texture and wanted it to feel warm.”

Check and check. This year’s showcase home, a collaboration between Craig, The Verandas developers Trae Corte and Bruce Bigler, listing agent Michelle Bigler of Wise Living Real Estate, Stephanie Minter Design, Coastal Design Group and Malouf Furniture is like retreating into a mountainside estate.

Thick hammered pine beams rise above the brick fireplace and open floor plan. Hardy board and white painted brick are inviting in the master bedroom where you can enter from two ways; first, through a regular bedroom door and then secretly through a hidden wall panel.

Pinterest inspired must-haves sprinkled throughout the home include a spacious pantry, mudroom hall with shelving for shoes and coats and a dog washing station in the extra-large laundry room.

“It’s hard to do anything that hasn’t already been done because of things like Pinterest,” Craig said. “So I tried really to do what I liked.”

Everything about the showcase home is not just likeable, but loveable. Three more bedrooms, including a Jack and Jill suite and a large mother-in-law suite mean there is room in this 3,200 sq. ft. interior for everyone.

The entire great room spills outside through 12-foot-tall, tri-fold, iron-trimmed glass doors onto an additional 1,000 sq. ft. of outdoor living space, complete with a kitchen, and fireplace.

The show-stopping home can be viewed during two weekends of the Parade of Homes. A $5 donation per person is requested and all money is donated to support the Baldwin County Child Advocacy Center.
