BAY MINETTE, Alabama — A Bay Minette man was arrested on drug trafficking and other charges after being stopped for speeding on Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard in Bay Minette on Thursday.

Bay Minette Police say Robert Gene Wallace, 48, of Bay Minette was pulled over for driving 50 miles per hour in a 35-mile-per-hour zone.

“During the course of the traffic stop Wallace was found to be in possession of approximately 37 grams of methamphetamine (ice) and drug paraphernalia items to indicate that he was involved in the distribution of methamphetamine,” according to a release issued by Bay Minette Police Chief Al Tolbert on Thursday.

Wallace has several prior bookings dating back to 2009, including being picked up on possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia charges in 2015. His last prior arrest was in June for a probation violation. He was released after serving six days in the Baldwin County Corrections Facility, according to jail records.

He was booked into the Corrections Facility Thursday on charges of drug trafficking (which carries a $200,000 bond); along with possession of drug paraphernalia and an alias warrant for driving with a suspended driver license. He is being held in the Baldwin County Corrections Center without bond.
