The Spanish Fort High girls and the Foley High boys claimed 2017 county team titles for their schools in the Baldwin County Track and Field Championships at Gulf Shores’ Sports Complex Monday.

GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Spanish Fort High girls and the Foley High boys claimed 2017 county team titles for their schools in the Baldwin County Track and Field Championships at Gulf Shores’ Sports Complex Monday.
In the the Boys division, the Lions defeated the runner-up SFHS Toros 174-136. Fairhope (129) took third, Daphne fourth, Bayside Academy fifth, Gulf Shores sixth, Baldwin County seventh and Robertsdale eighth.
On the Girls side, the Toros outscored Foley 139-124 for the win. Daphne’s Lady Trojans edged cross-town rival Bayside 112-110 for the Bronze. Fairhope took fifth, Baldwin County sixth, Gulf Shores seventh followed by RHS.
Individually, Trae Barry of SFHS and Keldrick Edwards of Foley each won four events. Edwards won the 100 meters (10.84 seconds), the 200 meters (22.29), the 400 (50.37) and the long jump (21-feet, 4-inches). Barry won the high jump (6-feet, 6-inches), the discus (136-09), the shot put (47-1.5) and the javelin (169-05). Jared Touart of Fairhope won three boys distance events: The 800 Meters (two minutes, 6.04 seconds), the 1600 (4:53.15) and the 3200 (10:56.31).
A number of female athletes won two individual events. Belle Rea placed in four events to lead the Lady Lions with wins in the 400 (59.73 seconds) and the 800 (2:24.19) and also took second in the 200 and third in the 1600. Kaitlyn Cole won the 100 meters in 12.35 and the 200 (25.95) for Spanish Fort. Daphne hurdler Sydney Omtvedt swept the 100 and the 300 with winning times of 15.83 and 49.67. Spanish Fort thrower Alivia Busch doubled up with wins in the shot put (37-11.0) and the discus (118-10).
In the boys pole-vault, Bayside Academy junior Ahmad Al-Salem set a new county-meet record with a jump of 13-feet, 2-inches.
