3-Year-Old Drowns in Magnolia Springs

MAGNOLIA SPRINGS – A tragedy occurred in Magnolia Springs over the weekend. On Saturday, August 5, Baldwin County Sheriff’s Deputies received a call about the possible drowning of a 3-year-old child.

The deputies arrived to find the child, who has been identified as Joseph T. Farrell, lying on the ground next to a pond located in the rear of the residence. After attempts to use CPR to resuscitate the child were unsuccessful by both the deputies and the paramedics who arrived on the scene shortly thereafter, the child was transported to South Baldwin Hospital in Foley. It was at the hospital that Farrell was pronounced deceased.

The investigation of the incident is still underway, but at the present moment it appears that Farrell and his siblings had eaten breakfast at their grandmother’s residence, which is approximately 40 yards away from their own home. The children were on their way home where their mother was waiting for them when Farrell ended up in the pond.

There has been no statement released as to how Farrell ended up in the pond, and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department is continuing their investigation into the matter.
