Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast kicks off seventh year

BAY MINETTE, Alabama — The Mayor's Prayer Breakfast recently celebrated the start of its seventh year of prayer and community involvement.

The group was founded in 2011 by the Rev. Edna Dixon and endorsed by then-Mayor Jamie Tillery. Mayor Robert A. “Bob” Wills has continued that endorsement through his attendance at and participation at the monthly meetings.

"The Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast has been a very effective tool to bring together our civic leaders and spiritual leaders in considering and addressing needs throughout our communities,” Wills said. “I congratulate our participants on the seven-year anniversary and look forward to many successful years to come.”

The group's goal is to bring together people of all walks of life to pray for a variety of needs and concerns, from government and military to schools and families and much more. There is usually a guest speaker who shares information about programs or opportunities for service.

The Mayor's Prayer Breakfast group meets the first Monday of each month at 7:30 a.m. at the North Baldwin Fitness Center, located next door to North Baldwin Infirmary. The meetings are open to the public at no cost. They begin with prayer, followed by light refreshments and a speaker.
