Richard Michael Jenkins, previously of Bay Minette and Gulf Shores, Ala., born May 11, 1944, passed away in Niceville, Fla. on March 12, 2016 at the age of 71.

Mr. Jenkins, son of the late Howard and Mildred Jenkins, was a native of Charleston, S.C. and a graduate of Madison High School, Madison Tenn. and Austin Peay University, where he played varsity football and golf.

He was founder and owner of Mark IV Contractors and served as a member of the County Commission of Baldwin County, Ala.

An avid fisherman, golfer and bird hunter, he also coached Little League Football, served as a Boy Scout leader for many years and was a member of the First Methodist Church of Bay Minette and the Bay Minette Civitan Club.

He is survived by his daughter, Michele Jenkins Guyton (Greg Guyton) of Baltimore, Md.; his son, Scott Jenkins (Tracie Hartley Jenkins) of Niceville Fla; and five grandsons, (Forrest, Jackson and Davis Guyton and Jacob and Aaron Jenkins). Also survived by a brother, Howard Jenkins of Clemson, S.C.

He was previously married to Shirley Apple Jenkins for 34 years. He will be remembered with love for his dedication and loyalty to his family and his involvement in the community.

A memorial service will be planned in May.
