Tropical depression predicted to reach storm status today

MIAMI – Tropical depression six continues to move northwestward over the central tropical Atlantic and has sustained winds of 35 mph, National Hurricane Center forecasters said.

Slow strengthening is forecast during the next day or two, and the depression is likely to become a tropical storm today.

The depression is moving toward the northwest near 15 mph (24 km/h), and this motion with some decrease in forward speed is expected during the next couple of days.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1007 mb (29.74 inches). At 2 a.m. the center of Tropical Depression Six was located near latitude 13.2 north, longitude 35.2 west.
