William "Bill" Arthur Burke Jr., age 87, a native of Birmingham who lived the last 30 years in Gulf Shores, went to live with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, March 5, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lennea Milton Burke; and his brother, Claude Thomas Burke.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Edna Green (Jack) and his five children, Kim Burke (Donna), Julie McCain (Walter), John Burke (Rene'), Suzanne Pocase (Gene) and Madge Noland (Jon); as well as 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He retired from U. S. Steel - Fairfield in 1986.
Bill was a generous, loyal, family man who never met a stranger. He was a hard worker who enjoyed the outdoors and working with his hands.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 7 at Elmwood Chapel from 6-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 8 at 11 a.m. at Elmwood Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Brad Burke, Jonathan McCain, Hudson McCain, Andrew McCain, Drew Burke and Tyler Noland.
Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.
