The Ascend Cares Foundation, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization of leading materials manufacturer Ascend Performance Materials, announced today it has awarded a $2,000 scholarship to Baldwin County student, Taylor Maulden of Elberta.

This year the Ascend Cares Foundation will award a total of 25 scholarships to children of the company’s employees from its six U.S. site locations. Applicants were selected based on their outstanding community service and strong academic achievements.

Baldwin County scholarship recipient Taylor Maulden of Elberta is 18 and a senior at Abeka Academy. Taylor plans to attend Coastal Alabama Community College and major in physical therapy. Outside of school, she volunteers with Hope Haven, Ecumenical Ministries, a Benefit for Leland Stewart, Optimist Club and the Foley Fire Department. Her parents are Erin and Richard Maulden. Richard Maulden is a maintenance planner/scheduler with Ascend Performance Materials in Foley.

“We are proud to support each of these students and commend the support of the parents of all of our applicants,” said Rachell Gold, director of the Ascend Cares Foundation. “We believe that part of being a good company means being good to our team members, their families and our community.”

The Ascend Cares Foundation was founded in 2011 and is managed by team members of Ascend Performance Materials. It is financed through a combination of individual contributions and matching company funds.
