LOXLEY, Ala. — Fairhope High swept the 2017 Baldwin County Cross Country Championships at Loxley Municipal Park to win the boys and girls team titles Oct. 19. The Pirates also claimed individual county crowns with Jared Touart and Lexie Williams breaking the tape in the boys and girls races. The Top-15 individual runners each received 2017 medalists honors. The 2017 championships were hosted by Daphne High.
Fairhope’s girls placed four more runners in the top 15 after Williams to score a 27 with a total team time of one hour, 45 minutes and 50.04 seconds.
Daphne ran a total time of 1:53:31.91 for the runner-up score of 71. Bayside Academy narrowly edged Spanish Fort 86-88 for third with a total-time advantage of 6.2 seconds. Baldwin County girls took fifth with a 113 ahead of newcomer St. Michael Catholic’s county debut finish of sixth.
The Fairhope boys had six runners cross the line in the top 10 for a first-place total time of 1:28:11.30 and a winning score of 18. Bayside’s Admirals out ran their cross-town and meet-hosting rival Trojans 72 (1:32:53.70) – 93 (1:34:28.30) for the runner-up trophy. Spanish Fort’s Toros were fourth with a 108 and Foley’s Lions rounded out the top five with a 123.
Fairhope head coach Tim Yahr was proud of his runners for putting in the hard work and extra miles all year.

“Especially proud of all my seniors. Girls and boys. But everybody has worked hard and the older ones have been great leaders for the younger ones. Everybody really worked to make this season special and did their best. They put in the time to make it happen,” he said.
“Daphne did a great job setting up the course and my assistant coach Rion Nabors really helped out as did all the parents and families. It really means a lot.”
