Bay Minette Library kicks off summer reading program

BAY MINETTE, Alabama — The Bay Minette Public Library recently held its summer reading kick-off celebration. The fun event included sign-ups for reading and math logs, free food, bouncy house and much more.

The first program was held Tuesday, June 6, with a “Hoops for Fitness” theme. The young readers (and some young at heart) took turns attempting to master the hula hoop.

The Summer Reading Program meets every Tuesday in June at the John F. Rhodes Civic Center. The program begins at 1 p.m. each week.

The schedule includes:

• June 13: Reptiles Scales and Tales (live animals).

• June 20: Freedom Ranch (live birds of prey).

• June 27: Charlie Williams, The Noise Guy, as well as awards.

This year's program also includes a math component where participants can keep a log of problems completed. The final session will also be a time to present reading and math awards. Reading and math logs are still available at the library.

All programs are free and open to the public.
