BAY MINETTE, Alabama — A Bay Minette man is in jail on murder charges after another Bay Minette resident was found stabbed in his front yard on Wednesday.

According to a release from the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday, deputies received a complaint of a stabbing at a home on Whippoorwill Lane in Bay Minette at around 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Upon arrival, deputies found 55-year-old Henry Albert “Butch” Gibson lying dead in his front yard with a stab wound to the chest.

According to the release, area residents called the Sheriff’s Office when they heard a loud argument between Gibson and 46-year-old Lee Eric Snider, whose address is listed as Whitehouse Fork Road, and 38-year-old Aime Marie Baker.

Witnesses said at some point during the incident Snider attempted to leave in his GMC Yukon, however the argument continued between Gibson and Baker. Witnesses then stated Snider exited his truck and began to fight with Gibson.

During this fight, according to witnesses, Snider produced and large hunting-type knife and stabbed Gibson in the chest. Gibson retreated toward his residence where he fell and succumbed to his injury.

Snider and Baker then fled the scene, but did stop at an area convenience store and phoned 911 operators. During the call, they advised dispatch of the stabbing. Deputies took both Snider and Baker into custody in the parking lot.

According to records, Snider was booked into the Baldwin County Jail at approximately 10 a.m. on Thursday, charged with murder. He is in jail on a $50,500 bond.

No charges against Baker appear to have been filed in the incident. Records show she was booked into the Corrections Facility in May on resisting arrest and detainer for hold charges with the Summerdale Police Department, her address listed as homeless. She was released five days later.
