BAY MINETTE, Alabama — Congratulations to Jessie Peed on her recognition as the Employee of the Year for the City of Bay Minette. Peed received multiple nominations from her co-workers, who all cited a common theme: she has a great work ethic combined with a positive attitude.

Mayor Bob Wills surprised Peed during the city’s Planning Commission meeting Dec. 10 where she attends as part of her duties with the Planning Department.

"We are very pleased to recognize Jessie Peed as our Employee of the Year for 2020,” Wills said. “Jesse does a terrific job for our City and our citizens. She is a tireless worker who is always willing to take on new challenges. She not only works well with her fellow employees but also is very accommodating and helpful to the customers of the city.

“What makes this award even more special is the fact that the recipient is chosen by his or her peers. Congratulations to Jessie. We are very proud to have you as part of our great City of Bay Minette team."

Peed works in the Planning Department, but assists multiple departments as part of her job. Here’s a few of the comments from her nominations:

In one letter, the nominator writes: “Jessie serves multiple departments proficiently. She is always willing to accept new challenges and remains professional in job-related situations that sometimes become stressful due to factors beyond her control. Jessie is positive, cheerful and organized. Jessie is always willing to be an additional set of hangs with various projects throughout the city.”

Another nomination letter cited her work ethic. “Jessie is a reliable and constant worker. She strives to make our work easier and much more efficient.”

A third nomination highlighted how Jessie had taken on new responsibilities with ease, including her work with the Bay Minette Planning Commission and maintaining the department’s website. “She is willing and more than able to work for multiple departments at any given time and goes out of her way to assist citizens to make sure they are taken care of, even when they aren’t needing information from her department. Jessie works with nearly every city department outside her own.. she goes above and beyond on everything she does, making sure her work is correct, thorough and completed on time. (She) has shown an exceptional drive and willingness to take on additional tasks, most often volunteering for extra responsibility. She has accepted her new roles with enthusiasm and is determined to learn all she can about Planning/Zoning to better perform her duties.”
