FAIRHOPE, Ala. - Bayside Academy locked down a Class 3A playoff spot with their 17-3 win over St. Michael Catholic on Saturday. The Admirals went up 6-0 when Clarke Milteer capped Bayside’s 73-yard opening drive with a 1-yard touchdown run. But the point-after attempt was missed.

Bayside extended the lead to 9-0 on a 24-yard field goal by Joseph Smith in the second quarter and took that lead into the half.

The Cardinals scored on their opening drive of the second half with Will Edmiston’s 30-yard field goal. Later St. Michael’s had a 67-yard touchdown pass called back on a downfield penalty.

The Admirals added a touchdown early in the fourth quarter when Christopher Stuart capped a 68-yard drive with a 10-yard TD run. Bayside made a two-point conversion with a pass from Jacob Cunningham to Jeremy Loper for what would be the final score.

St. Michael (1-7, 0-5) will Mobile Christian on Thursday, Oct. 24. Bayside ((5-4, 4-2) is off this weekend and will travel to Satsuma to close out the regular season on Nov. 1.
