DAPHNE, Ala. – Bayside Academy’s girls tennis team won the 2018 Alabama High School Athletic Association 1A-3A State Championship. The team scored 62 points, 13 points ahead of defending champion Montgomery Academy.
The team finished in the top three in all individuals and doubles brackets. Individual state champions are Evelyn Prickett, O’Melia Macpherson and Mary Catherine Branyon, while Claire Prickett finished runner-up and both Mae Taul and Ellie Perry finished in third place.
In doubles the Prickett sisters and the team of Macpherson and Perry both finished runner-up, while the team of Taul and Branyon finished third in their bracket. The team was led by head coach Darcey Puckett and assistant Chrissy Thompson.
Bayside Academy is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory day school for students in grades PK–12.
