BCAR installs officers for 2017

ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — Gulf Shores Realtor Frank Malone was installed Thursday as the 2017 Baldwin County Association of Realtors during ceremonies held at the BCAR central office in Robertsdale.

One of four sons in a Navy family, Malone moved to Gulf Shores in 1978 after his father, Bob Malone, retired from the Navy and joined his father Bill Malone’s real estate company.

After graduating from Foley High School in 1981, Frank Malone earned a B.S. degree in accounting from the University of South Alabama in 1985, and received numerous awards on the South Alabama cross country and track teams during his college career.

After a short career as a CPA with Coopers & Lybrand (now Price Waterhouse Coopers) in Birmingham, Malone spent nine years in international construction accounting and ultimately managed an industrial equipment auction site for Ritchie Bros. in the Philippines. During his international work, he lived in South Korea, Egypt and the Philippines and traveled throughout the world sourcing construction equipment for resale.

In 1996, Malone came home to Gulf Shores to join the family real estate business with his father and numerous partners and has been managing, developing, listing and selling real estate ever since. He is the managing broker of the Bellator Real Estate & Development Gulf Shores office.

He and his wife Jennifer have three children, Benjamin, Molly and Nora.

Malone and other officers were sworn in on Thursday by Cliff Long, CEO of the Birmingham Association of Realtors and the Greater Alabama MLS.

Other officers for 2017 include Troy Wilson, president-elect; Kandy Hines, secretary/treasurer; Andrea Kaiser-Shilston, Southern Region vice president; and Paige Moore, Central Region vice president.

Directors for 2017 are Mickie Russell, Mike Steward, Tommy Stanton, Bo Nichols, Stephen Richards, Patrick Dailey, Lacie Maynard, Spence Monroe and David Coate; Central Region local directors Mark Frenette and Barbara McDaniel; and Southern Region local directors, Jeff McLaurin and Angie Swiger.

Rance Reehl, Morgan Ashurst, Sharon Wright and Ginny Stopa were recognized as outgoing directors.

MLS Board of Directors were also sworn in by Long Thursday. Tommy Stanton was tapped as president of the MLS Board of Directors, which is appointed by the Association Nominating Committee. Additional officers are Geneva Shouldis, vice president and Nickie Olson, secretary treasurer. 2017 directors for the MLS are Kristy Bushaw, James Dodson, Michael Dorsett, Sharon Lavender, Christie Mahar and Clarissa Rambo.

In addition 2016 Club awards were presented to The Fairhope Point Clear Rotary Youth Club, The Ruff Wilson Youth Center and The John McClure Snook Youth Foundation of Foley. A check for $1,150 was presented to each charity.

Centennial Bank sponsored a mimosa and poinsettia bar for the meeting, presentation by Mortgage Banker Lynn Ferrie.

The 2016 Good Neighbor Award and a $500 check to Victims of Crime and Leniency (VOCAL) was presented to Tracey Goens.

2016 Baldwin County Realtor of the Year award winner Morgan Ashurst was presented a special award for winning the 2016 Realtor of the Year award from the Alabama Association of Realtors.
