BCHS Tiger Guard volunteers with Fighting Against Parkinson's

BAY MINETTE, Alabama — Baldwin County High School’s Tiger Guard members have had a busy summer attending camps and preparing for this year’s half-time show.

Several members also volunteered with the Fighting Against Parkinson’s group at Just Fitness in Bay Minette. The non-contact boxing-inspired fitness programs helps patients with Parkinson’s improve strength, balance and flexibility.

The relationship started when a Tiger Guard member stopped by Just Fitness for a sponsorship and ended up volunteering. She soon recruited her teammates to join her.

Alex Homan, Tiger Guard sponsor, said the team truly “enjoyed their time volunteering and becoming a part of something more than they could imagine: a family. Rodney and Pat Clay have created an environment for everyone at Just Fitness in Bay Minette.”

Tiger Guard members assisted the group members with their fitness routines and also offered words of encouragement.

“We adored working with each member of the classes, as well as alongside Rodney and Pat,” Holman said. “We love the friendships we made and the fact that is the just the beginning of giving back to our community. Thanks to all at Just Fitness! Your work is so valuable and very much appreciated.”

Homan said they were thankful to be a part of such a worthwhile endeavor.

Pat Propst shared that the feeling was mutual.

“We love these precious young women,” Propst said. “They brought so many smiles to the faces of our boxers, corner people, volunteers and coaches. Can’t wait for their first game so we can help support them!”

The Tiger Guard will soon be performing with BCHS Marching Band during the half-time shows of the BCHS Tigers.
