EIGHT MILE— The Blount Leopards took advantage of five Baldwin County High turnovers to defeat the Tigers 41-10 Friday evening in Mobile County. The loss knocked the Tigers from the ranks of the unbeaten and left them with a 2-1 overall record and evened their 6A area one record at 1-1.

BCHS battled the Leopards (now 3-0 overall and 2-0 in area play) on even terms for most of the first quarter. The Leopards finally got on the scoreboard with 4:58 left in the first period when Kadarius Toney hit Collin Woods on a swing pass and the Blount receiver rambled 53 yards for the score.

BCHS, after an exchange of punts, came right back and threatened to tie it up as Chase Overstreet connected with Chris Hooks for a 51-yard pass play down to the Blount four. A penalty moved it to the two but on the next play, the snap from center sailed over Hooks' head. After the Tigers failed to take advantage of the mistake, Blount's Darold Scott picked it up and sprinted 81 yards for the game-changing touchdown.

Blount added another touchdown, a Toney to Trajan Pugh 24-yard touchdown pass with 50 seconds left in the half. Ed Alvardo-Amaya added the extra point, as he did on the first two scores.

Overstreet scrambled 18 yards in the third period to put Bay Minette on the scoreboard and Dalton Coleman converted the PAT. Coleman added a 32-yard field goal early in the fourth but Blount got an interception return, and two rushing touchdowns to make the final count 41-10

BCHS enjoys an open week before going to Class 6A No. 3 Spanish Fort on Sept. 16 while Blount’s Class 6A No. 2 Leopards play Saraland next week.
