BAY MINETTE, Alabama — Bay Minette police have one suspect in custody and are looking for another suspect in a Saturday afternoon shooting and hit and run they say both stem from an altercation which started in the V&B Food Mart parking lot.

Nathaniel K. Johnson, 22, of Bay Minette is in jail without bond, transported and booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Facility on Saturday, charged with second degree assault.

The suspect driving the vehicle that struck the individual in the roadway is still outstanding, according to a release issued Saturday by Bay Minette Police Chief Al Tolbert. The suspect vehicle is a white small SUV of unknown make and model.

According to the release, at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, BMPD patrol officers responded to V&B Food Mart in reference to a shooting.

When the patrol officers arrived on scene they discovered one adult male subject had been shot in the wrist in the store’s parking lot. Another adult male subject had been struck by a vehicle and sustained a leg injury in front of the convenience store on U.S. 31 South.

The shooting victim and the victim that was struck by the automobile were both transported to USA Medical center.

Investigators from the Bay Minette Police Department are still actively working this case and interviewing the victims and witnesses. More charges and arrest are likely to occur. The names of the shooting victim and the hit and run victim have not been confirmed.
