Bras for a Cause 2016

Breastcancer.org projects that one in eight women and one in 1,000 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016. Those numbers are staggering and a small group of ladies from the Gulf Coast’s real estate industry are doing their best to make a difference. This team of REALTORS, mortgage lenders, builders, title agents and insurance professionals pulled together an evening that was filled with fine food, fun, and fabulousness on October 6 by hosting the 3rd annual Bras For A Cause, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefitting the Providence Hospital Breast Cancer Outreach Fund. This fund provides financial assistance for patient’s going through breast cancer treatment at Providence Hospital. The assistance is based on identified financial needs. These needs can include living expenses, medical expenses, expenses related to time off from work and assistance with gas cards. Robi Jones, the Care Coordinator, at Providence, receives the patients and assists them from their initial diagnosis, throughout treatment and into remission. She evaluates each patients specific needs and works out the best plan of action with regards to their care and expenses. In 2014, Tonyea Weber, a local REALTOR with John Howard Companies, brought this incredible event to the Gulf Coast area in an effort to raise funds to help local women and men who are fighting breast cancer. With the mindset of "Together, we can make a difference,” Bras For A Cause has been wildly successful in raising thousands of dollars for patients fighting breast cancer in our area. In 2014, $2,800 was donated, and in 2015, $10,000 was donated. As of today, all of the numbers aren't in for 2016 but, the BRAS FOR A CAUSE 2016 teamsays that not only have they reached their goal, that goal has been exceeded beyond what they could have ever imagined. Bras For A Cause 2016 was presented by Kathy Smith and her team at Bayside Insurance. It was held at a brand new venue called The Locale, located at 4128 Government Blvd. in Mobile. The owners of The Locale, Tommy and Debbie Hartley, graciously donated the venue, Stevie Watford from Stevie's Kitchen, donated all of the delicious food and Pour Baby Wine Bar donated all of the exquisite wine for the evening. With 33 outrageously decorated bras modeled by local business men being auctioned off to the highest bidder, it was most definitely a night to remember! If you would like more information on how you can be involved in Bras For A Cause 2017, contact Tonyea Weber at tw@johnhowardhomes.com or 251-639-1155.
