German inspired Games, Food and Music in Downtown

FOLEY – Save the date for Nachtspiele OWA (pronounced nahkht-spie-le) on Saturday, Nov. 14 in Downtown OWA! Meaning “Night Games” in German, you can enjoy a night of fun with German inspired entertainment, food, and brews or bring your game face and compete against other teams in the Nachtspiele Gauntlet.

Do you and your friends dominate the thumb wrestling sector? Does the “oompa” of a good Polka band bring you to your feet? Have you been personally attacked by 2020? Then OWA has the event for you. Get your team of four together and pre-register today for your chance to compete for $400 in cash and prizes. Plus, carry the clout of being crowned royalty for the evening during Nachtspiele OWA. Teams will compete in a series of games including a Stein Holding Contest, Partner Carrying Contest, Thumb Wrestling and, crowd favorite, Beer Sliding. Start practicing now, so you can claim the crown!

If competing isn’t your thing, there is plenty for spectators to enjoy while strolling down the beautiful streets of Downtown OWA. Catch authentic live German inspired entertainment from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. throughout Downtown OWA; whether it’s the foot stomping energy of a clogging performance or a oom-pah-pah beats of the Polka band. If you are 21 & older, be sure to stop in one of your favorite restaurants to sip a specialty German beer and since Downtown OWA is a designated entertainment district, you can even grab your drink to go so you don’t miss a minute of the action.

“OWA’s goal is to always have something for guests to enjoy, so in the spirit of Fall and cooler temperatures we have created a new spin on a seasonal favorite,” said Kristin Hellmich, OWA’s Director of Marketing/PR. “Nachtspiele OWA is a place to kick back in a socially distanced space to enjoy a lively afternoon of entertainment outdoors and have a little fun with your friends.”

If you love German games, music and brews you must make it to Nachtspiele OWA! Registration information for teams can be found at VisitOWA.com/Events.
