Bruce Angus Brown, age 80, a native of Duluth, Minnesota and a resident of Gulf Shores, Alabama, passed away in his home Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Nancy Brown (Kmetz), a native of Duluth, Minnesota, resident of Gulf Shores, Alabama; daughter, Karen (Don) Pearson and son, Grant (Sarah) Brown of Gulf Shores, Alabama; his brother, Jerry (Rosalyn) Brown of Venice, Florida, formerly of Victoria and Duluth, Minnesota; and two sisters, Carol (Keith) Goltz of Willow, Alaska and Gail (Robert) Toftey of Duluth, Minnesota; three grandchildren, William Pearson of Duluth, Minnesota, Thomas Pearson of Bloomfield, New Jersey and Taylor Brown of Gulf Shores, Alabama; many nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and his beloved pets, Pandora, Curry and Sidney.

Bruce graduated from Denfeld High School and continued his education, earning bachelor degrees in Industrial Arts and Political Science from the University of Minnesota - Duluth in 1961. He went on to earn his master's degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Wisconsin - Superior in 1967.

Bruce retired from a long and fulfilling career as a teacher and guidance counselor for the Duluth, Minnesota Independent School District.

From an early age, his summers were spent helping his father, Harry Brown, and mother, Genevieve Brown (McDougall), operate their family resort on the Gunflint Trail in northern Minnesota. Bruce's love for the outdoors sparked many activities, including camping, fishing, gardening, sailing, shooting, and golfing, which he enjoyed with his family and friends throughout his life.

A private family memorial is planned for a later date.
