ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — Construction has begun on the Buc-ee’s Travel Center, located off of County Road 68 and the Baldwin Beach Express, which officials say should be completed by the end of this year.

Birmingham-based Stewart Perry is in charge of construction for the 50,000-square foot facility, which will also include 120 fueling stations. Public relations officials with Buc-ee’s, based in Lake Jackson, Texas, near Houston have confirmed plans are to complete construction in the fourth quarter of 2018, expecting to employ between 200 and 250.

There are also plans to expand County Road 68 to allow access to the store, according to reports.

The Baldwin location is the first to be built outside the state of Texas. Two other stores, located in Daytona Beach and Fort Myers, Florida, are also in the works for 2018.

“We’re taking our love of Buc-ee’s on the road,” Jeff Nadalo, Buc-ee’s general counsel, said in the April release. “As we expand, we remain committed to bringing our customers clean restrooms, a wide variety of merchandise, and great customer service, as we’ve been doing since 1982.”

Following its first store opening in 1982 in Lake Jackson, Buc-ee’s has steadily gained a loyal customer following and become widely known for:

· A multitude of gas pumps and award-winning, clean restrooms.

· Buc-ee's Beaver Nuggets, which are a decadent caramel coated snack.

· Freshly made barbecue, delicious sandwiches, and pastries.

· A wide assortment of Buc-ee's famous jerky, fresh fudge and other homemade staples.

· Unique apparel, gifts, and handmade craft items, including products featuring the chain's popular buck-toothed “Beaver” mascot.

· Gear for enjoying the outdoors.

Founded in 1982, Buc-ee's has approximately 40 locations, almost all of which are located in Texas.

The company also operates the largest convenience store in the world, located in New Braunfels, Texas. The New Braunfels Travel Center covers 68,000 square feet and features 120 fueling positions, 83 toilets, 31 cash registers four Icee machines, and 80 fountain dispensers.

Buc-ee’s is based in Lake Jackson, also home to the company’s first convenience store, which is still in operation. For more information, visit buc-ees.com.
