Caroline Hayes Yearty, 90, Pensacola, Florida, formerly of Loxley Alabama, died Jan. 9, 2018.

She was admired for her expertise and guidance as school administrator and teacher assistant at middle schools in the Birmingham school system.

Her departed soul leaves us to continue her legacy of an overwhelming sense of hospitality to ALL, and quiet - but positive - leadership by example.

A paragon of the greatest generation, she was a master gardener, especially in her rose garden, and a wonderful homemaker and hostess for many gatherings of family and friends. Everyone was welcome at her home and she would always make a place at the table, somehow stretching whatever she was serving to accommodate all who were there.

As a former member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Robertsdale, Alabama, and St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Daphne, Alabama, her ministries included Sunday school teacher, vestry positions, and women's service groups, but most of all she loved being a part of the alter guild, caring for the vessels of worship and placing beautiful flowers on the table.

She is survived by her sister, Rebecca Fredricks; two children, Robert Clifford Jr. (Linda) and Mary Elizabeth Yearty-Meek (Ronnie); five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, each of whom gave her great pride; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parent; her sister; and her husband, Robert.

Following 69 years of marriage, now four years after his passing, Mom and Dad are reunited forever. Together they inspired several generations to have determination, perseverance, and to do your best.

Thanks, and blessings from her family to Covenant Hospice and the Alzheimer's Care Team at Homestead Village, Pensacola, for the wonderful and respectful care they provided during her final years.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to Alzheimer's research or hospice care facility.
