Carson Eugene McFarland, age 93, a native of Jamestown, Kentucky and a longtime resident of Mobile, Alabama, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017.

He served in the United States Army during World War II (1943-1945) and was deployed to Northern France, the Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was employed by International Paper Co. in Mobile from 1947 ΜΆ 1985, retiring as maintenance supervisor.

Carson was an avid golfer and member of Skyline Country Club for over 30 years.

Carson was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Doris McFarland; parents, Maud L. McFarland and Joseph R. McFarland; daughter-in-law, Arlene L. McFarland; and seven siblings.

Survivors include his sons, Stevan McFarland (Wanda) and Vaughan McFarland; and daughter, Cindy Thompson (Terry). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Stevan (Heather) McFarland Jr, Matthew McFarland, Brian (Kiri) McFarland, Jonathan McFarland, Ty (Effie) Thompson and Mary Tanner (Wayne) Sanders; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 6, 2017 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope.

Private graveside services will be held at Memory Gardens of Fairhope at a later date.
