ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — The Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce and Hamm Enterprises Ltd. are pleased to announce the Cynthia Ann Hamm Memorial Scholarship. This is an annual scholarship that will be awarded to a student from the Central Baldwin County area. The Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce awards multiple scholarships to local students every year.
Cynthia Ann “Cindi” Hamm (1958-2020) was born in Geneva but grew up in Robertsdale. She was a 1975 graduate of Robertsdale High School.
She went on to achieve her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Mobile College of Nursing in 1986 and graduated from Xavier University in New Orleans in 1992 with a master’s degree in anesthesia. She did her internship at Charity Hospital in New Orleans that at the time was one of the top trauma centers in the country.
She worked as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist for 29 years. Hamm was in high demand as a nurse anesthetist from many surgeons in Atlanta, but she always found time to come home to Baldwin County on the weekends and holidays.
She loved her friends and family and was passionate about education, her career, animals (especially helping stray or injured animals) and her son, Quitman James “Jimmy” Hamm II. She firmly believed that education was paramount to improving one’s life and the lives of others.
Hamm Enterprises Ltd. offers high quality, low priced housing, land, investment properties and income producing asset management services throughout Baldwin County, Alabama and Georgia and is a long-time member of the Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce.
“Cynthia was a very smart, hard-working and accomplished person,” said Hamm President and CEO Jeff Windham. “She is truly a Baldwin County success story. Her sense of humor, love for her family and dedication to helping people and animals is sorely missed. We are proud to memorialize Cynthia with this very fitting educational scholarship for local students and hope that it may inspire them to better themselves and their communities as Cynthia did.”
All scholarships are awarded through the Chamber’s Junior Executive Youth Leadership program. For more information about the program and scholarships contact the Chamber office at 251-947-2626.
