Chamber hosts Honoring Our Heroes drive through at Church of Christ

ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — In a time of social distancing, the Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce’s annual Honoring Our Heroes lunch, held Tuesday, May 12, looked a little different this year.

“We still wanted to honor those who serve, not just in Central Baldwin, but for the entire area,” said Chamber President/CEO Gail Quezada, “and we thought this would be a good way to do it.”

So, this year, instead of hosting a buffet-style sit down lunch as in past years, the Chamber decided to host deputies from the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department, fire officials, EMA, EMT and police department officials with a drive through service.

And since there is currently construction going on at the PZK Hall in Robertsdale, the event was held at the Robertsdale Church of Christ with pastor Andrew Itson and family participating.

The annual event was first held during the week of 9/11 in 2014, but was moved to May in 2016 to coincide with Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Week and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department’s Fallen Officers Memorial, which was also held May 12 at the BCSO Central Command in Robertsdale.

Baldwin EMC was the presenting sponsor for the event. Additional sponsors were Gold Sponsors: the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, Café Acadiana, Coastal Alabama Community College, Riviera Utilities; Silver Sponsors: Robertsdale Urgent Care, Lee Drug Store Pharmacy & Gift Shop, Citizens’ Bank, the town of Silverhill and Signarama.
