Christian Service Center to offer Summer Breakfast/Lunch Backpack Program

Posted

When school gets out for the summer, most think about endless days of sun and beach. Unfortunately, some local Pleasure Island children have worry about where are they going to get breakfast and lunch.

To eliminate that worry from young minds, the Christian Service Center has a Summer Backpack Program for children at Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Elementary Schools.

The Summer Backpack Program provides breakfast, lunch and two snacks for each day, five days a week.

There are still openings available and any student who qualifies for subsidized breakfast and lunch is eligible.

To sign up, go by the Christian Service Center in Gulf Shores between 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday. Backpacks will be available for pickup beginning May 30.

In its 26th year, the Christian Service Center is a “Hand Up” rather than a “Hand Out” agency. Clients are given immediate emergency aid as well as guidance on finding solutions to their problems.

The CSC is a 100 percent volunteer agency funded by the churches of Pleasure Island, various community organizations, including the United Way of Baldwin County and interested individuals.

For more information please call the CSC at 251-968-5256 or visit www.cscgs.com.
