Church plans annual Spring Fling April 29

ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — This past Easter probably felt more like Thanksgiving for Pastor Andrew Itson and the Robertsdale Church of Christ.

Following completion of a 13,500-square-foot expansion, the non-denominational church, located on Pennsylvania Street just east of the entrance to Robertsdale’s Garrett Park, has continued to enjoy growth with several new members joining since the kickoff for the new facility in December.

“We have been so blessed to be able to provide this wonderful facility as a place where people can come and fellowship and hear about the word of God,” said Itson, who has served as the church’s pastor since 2013. “We want to continue to provide a family atmosphere and let people know that we are in the community.”

In just the past three years, Itson said, the church has grown from a regular attendance of about 180 to more than 240. The new facility includes a 400-seat sanctuary and needed classroom space for children and adults.

The original structure will be used for a fellowship hall and additional classroom space.

The church will host its annual Spring Fling on Saturday, April 29 beginning at 4 p.m.

The free event includes inflatables, along with other activities for kids, including face painting. There will also be a bake-off and fish fry, all free for anyone who wants to attend, Itson said.

“Being so close to the park, I’m really hoping that we will get some of those residents who will come over and check us out,” Itson said. “This is just an opportunity for us to let the residents know that we love them and that we are there for them.”

The church is located at 18250 Pennsylvania St., just east of the entrance to Garrett Park. Bible study is every Sunday morning at 9:30 and Wednesday evening at 7 with worship services at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. every Sunday.
