Clifford E. Smith, age 93, A native of Laurel, Mississippi, a former resident of Fort Walton Beach, Florida residing in Daphne, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019 at his residence.

Mr. Smith was owner operator of Dairy Queen, Fort Walton Beach, Florida. He was employed with National Linen Service for 29 years, Mobile, Alabama, a member of the Masonic Loop Lodge 895, Mobile, Alabama for 60-plus years.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Michelle Jones; and five brothers, Paul Malec, Charles Malec, Bobby Malec, James Smith and Franklin Malec.

Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Helen Smith of Daphne, Alabama; one daughter, Beverly Smith of Fairhope, Alabama; two grandchildren, Teresa (Walter) Ernest and Geoffrey Jones, both of Fairhope, Alabama; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Ernest, Caroline Ernest and Bailey Plash; one brother, Henry (Dawn) Malec of Spanish Fort, Alabama; other relatives and many friends, including Dr. Liston (Rhonda) Jones and Rick (Debbie) Simerly.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019 at Jubilee Baptist Church at 1 p.m.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from noon until time of the service.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all of Mr. Smith's caretakers.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials to The Children's Miracle Network Hospital of Alabama, 1600 7th Ave. S., Birmingham, AL. 35233.

Interment will follow at Jubilee Memorial Gardens.
