ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — Robertsdale High head baseball coach Peter Bezeredi won career victory No. 200 on April 4 against Alma Bryant. His 2017 Golden Bears signed and presented him the game ball from the memorable 1-0 win over the Hurricanes at Kevin Raley Field.

“It is just a milestone, but I was happy to have the boys sign the game ball for me as a little keepsake,” Bezeredi said. “Something special to remember with them. This isn’t something you do for the record. You do it for the kids, but it takes a lot of hard work, a lot of good players and assistant coaches all working together.”

Coach “Bez” picked up his first varsity win in 1998 at Tavares High in Florida.

After his head-coaching stint there, he helped former RHS coach Kevin Raley as an assistant before resuming head coaching duties at Baldwin County High where he led the Tigers for seven years. He then returned to RHS and took over for Raley in 2015.

Freshman Bears’ pitcher Luke Bezeredi closed with two scoreless innings in relief against the Hurricanes and got the landmark win for his dad Tuesday night at home.

“It wasn’t planned that way, but we had to use a lot of different pitchers that night because we had area (series) coming up,” Bezeredi said. “He was the next pitcher. But it’s nice, kind of ironic maybe, that he could finish it out for us.”
