FAIRHOPE – Fairhope officials closed City Hall to the public Thursday, June, 25, after a municipal employee tested positive for COVID 19.
The drive-through window will remain open for customers to pay bills.
Customers who need to do business at the Fairhope Public Utilities/Public Works building should make an appointment by calling 251-928-8003. All visitors to the building are required to wear a mask.
On Wednesday, city officials reported that anyone who attended the June 22 Fairhope City Council or has conducted business at City Hall since June 18 may have been exposed to COVID 19.
A City Hall employee received a positive test for COVID 19, according to a Fairhope statement. The statement said no one known to have tested positive for COVID 19 was at the meeting. However, some people at the meeting were exposed through contacts with people who tested positive.
City officials asked that anyone at the meeting or who has been at City Hall since June 22 to practice precautions recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Precautions include wearing a mask and practicing social distancing for the next 21 days.
Ensuring that anyone who might have been exposed through a third party practice social distancing. Working remotely if possible.
If people cannot work from home, they should practice social distancing, wear a mask and disinfect all surfaces they touch.
Anyone who experiences symptoms should immediately self-isolate, contact their doctor, notify their supervisor and not return to work until declared medically cleared by a doctor.
Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. Symptoms include fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting and diarrhea.
