David Arthur "Danny" Normand, age 71, has packed up his drum kit, and moved on to the next gig. David died with his family by his side, on April 11, 2017 in Fairhope, Alabama.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Gene Normand.

David was born on July 10, 1945 in Montgomery Alabama. As a young child, his family called New Orleans home, but before long, Fairhope, Alabama became the family home.

Music followed the Normand family to Fairhope, and soon the Jack Normand Orchestra was making waves. David's young life was thus filled with music. He continued to play throughout his life.

In his death is found the comfort of a life well lived. He is known to have "never met a stranger," and to always have a wide smile and a good ear.

He was an avid LSU fan, and if you didn't want to talk about football or music, he'd talk about the newest, greatest science fiction series.

He was a good man, and will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

David is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susan Normand; his son, David (Simone Manifold) Normand; and by his daughter, Sara-Gene Normand (Jeffrey) Gillespie. He leaves five grandchildren, Mia Rae, Oscar and Maxwell Normand and Brice and Jonathan Gillespie. Also surviving are his siblings, Glenn, Jeanine, Laurie and Robert; dearest friends, Aubrey LeGendre and Larry and Mia Manifold; and a brother-in-law, Jeff Griffin; and several nieces, nephews and many other friends.

A celebration of life will be held in his honor, and will be announced when plans are finalized.
