Daylilies: Garden Club favorite

Posted

ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — The Crenshaw Farms Daylily Garden in Bay Minette was the meeting place for the Robertsdale Garden Club on Tuesday, April 11.

This site has been a favorite of the club for many years. In anticipation of the Daylily Garden closing in early July, the members and guests wanted to visit the farm one more time.

Diane Crenshaw gave a demonstration on how to grow and care for daylilies. Daylilies need about six hours or more of sunshine. They also live a long time and are low maintenance. Crenshaw said there will be specials the end of June in order to share the daylilies for those who want them.

Following the field trip, members and guests enjoyed lunch at the Stagecoach Café in Stockton. Guests in attendance were Carol Soesbe, Laura Johnson and Sue Markham.

The final meeting before summer hiatus will be on Tuesday, May 9 at 10 a.m. at the George P. Thames Senior Center in Robertsdale. Members will exchange plants and new officers will be installed.

Guests are welcome and can call membership chairman Mary Ann Lindsay at 251-986-6520 for additional information.
