The Gulf Coast Arts Alliance (GCAA) has several events in the works this year despite the cancellation of the Zydeco and Crawfish Festival.

The first Art Market of the year kicks things off this Saturday, March 6 on the grounds of Gulf Shores First Presbyterian Church. Twenty artists will display and sell their work and give live demonstrations. The market opens at 9 a.m. and runs through the day ending at 3 p.m.

In May, the GCAA is partnering with the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo for the inaugural “Wild Things” Art Festival. Planning for the event is underway and more details will become available soon. The event promises artists set up throughout the zoo, face painting and music. The event is scheduled for May 22 with times to be announced. Artists interested in registering to participate find the application and information at gulfcoastartsalliance.com.

The Gulf Coast Arts Alliance gallery is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and features more than 50 local and regional artists. New artists and new pieces arrive often giving visitors a new experience each visit.

Various classes are available by reservation. Artist Tommy Vogel teaches pastels or acrylic painting each Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursdays, Kim Shannon gives ukulele and string band lessons. Call the gallery at (251) 948-2627 to enroll.
