Donald F. Mulhern, age 90, a resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017.
He was born in Portland, Maine Nov. 1, 1926. He served in the United States Merchant Marine during World War II, receiving the Merchant Marine Combat Bar, among other decorations. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 199, Fairhope, Alabama.
His remains will be cremated, with a celebration of life memorial planned for a later date.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Jessia Prater Mulhern, whom he loved dearly; a son, Donald F Mulhern Jr. (Laurie) of Memphis, Tennessee; stepdaughter, Tina Alexander of Alexandria, Virginia; nephews, Thomas A. Mulhern (Donna) of Morristown, New Jersey and Richard Barker (Julie) of University Park, Florida. He is also survived by his beloved cousin, Anne Marie Feeny Murphy of Scarborough, Maine; a great-nephew, Brian Mulhern of Annapolis, Maryland; three granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret; daughter, Deborah; parents; and siblings.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Red Cross.
