Homecoming Parade & Uptown Halloween approaching

FOLEY – Drivers in Foley who travel through the downtown area during the evenings and who are not planning on attending the upcoming events should begin planning an alternate route for late October.

On Thursday, October 26, two huge events will be taking place in Foley during the evening, and the planned street closures are expected to begin earlier in the day in preparation of the festivities.

“We’re closing down Downtown, and opening it up to the pedestrians,” said LaDonna Hinesley, Marketing Director for City of Foley.

The planned street closures according to Hinesley will be Highway 98 and Orange Street, from Highway 59 to Alston Street, and Alston itself south of 98 to Orange.

Uptown Halloween is a much-anticipated event in Foley, and this year everyone is welcome to save the date of Oct 26, from 5:30-8 p.m. This year will be a little different, as Uptown Halloween won’t be the only thing taking place downtown that evening.

“This is going to be a big night,” Hinesley said. “That also happens to be the Foley High School Homecoming Parade night, and Foley Police Department has approved doing both events the same night. It’s going to be a big evening.”

The Homecoming Parade will begin at 5 p.m., with a slightly altered route to accommodate Uptown Halloween.

Both events are free to the public, and everyone is invited to come out and show support of Foley High and then stay for some downtown trick-or-treating that will be taking place afterwards. There will be a costume contest, bounce house, hay rides, and booths to win treats and prizes.

“It’s going to be a fun night,” said Hinesley. “Bigger and better than ever!”
