Dr. C. Douglas Harrell Jr., age 84, a resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away Monday, March 5, 2018.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 until 1960 as a sonar man. From 1952 to 1956 he was on active duty and served aboard the USS Patrol Craft Escort 874 and USS Haas Destroyer Escort 424. He was discharged in 1960 from inactive reserve as 1st Class Petty Officer.

He was a graduate of Birmingham Southern College and University of Alabama, School of Dentistry. He opened his practice of dentistry in Fairhope in 1963 and retired in 1995.

Dr. Harrell was a member of the Shrine and Greeno Masonic Lodge in Fairhope and the Coastal Conservation Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Claude Douglas Harrell Sr. and Mrs. Dorothy Holland Harrell.

Dr. Harrell is survived by his wife, Ann Bayer Harrell; sons, Dr. C.D. Harrell III (Betty Jo) and George Leonard Harrell (Rebecca); grandchildren, Courtney LaRue Harrell, Claude Douglas Harrell IV and George Holland Harrell.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Three Circle Church.

Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. until time of service.

Interment will follow service at Montrose Cemetery.
