Dr. Robert Blees McKee

Dr. Robert Blees McKee passed away peacefully at his home on Jan. 22, 2020. Dr. McKee was a native of Mobile and a lifelong resident of the Eastern Shore.

He graduated from UMS, Emory University and Loyola Dental School.

After dental school, Dr. McKee joined the United States Air Force. Stationed at Patrick Air Force Base, Dr. McKee was privileged to check the first astronaut's teeth. Dr. McKee was the second dentist on the Eastern Shore, where he practiced for over 30 years.

Dr. McKee was a founding member of the Fairhope Lions Club in 1963. The Baldwin County Commission honored Dr. McKee by proclaiming March 20, 2013 as "Lion Dr. Robert McKee Day."

In 2017 he was inducted into the Bayside Academy Hall of Fame as a founding member of Bayside's Board of Directors.

Dr. McKee was a member of the Fairhope Christian Church where he served as an elder, trustee and choir member for many years.

Dr. McKee was an avid golfer, tennis player and loved the Auburn Tigers.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rochelle Nelson McKee; his children, Allison McKee Brown (Mike) and Robert Patrick McKee (Mary Lou); grandchildren, Katherine Brown (Jack), Alice Brown, Michael Brown, McKee Brown , Lanee McKee and Gracee McKee.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. at Fairhope Christian Church on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2020.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Fairhope Christian Church.
