Edward J. "Eddie" Sweat, age 78, a native of Robertsdale, Alabama, a resident of Valparaiso, Florida, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018 in Stapleton, Alabama surrounded by family.
Mr. Sweat was a co-founder of Sweat Tire Co., and was the owner of Country Corner Discount Tire for nearly 40 years in Valparaiso, Florida.
Eddie was a longtime member of the Elks Lodge in Valparaiso, Florida. He was a loving family man.
He was preceded in death by his parents, C.D. Sweat and Elsie Brenner Sweat; and two brothers, S.C. Sweat Jr. and Millard Sweat.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Sweat of Stapleton, Alabama; two daughters, Jennifer Sweat and June Sweat of Stapleton, Alabama; son, Jesse Sweat of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; dear friend, Gene Goodridge; six grandchildren, Robert Walser, Emily McDonald, Steven Baker, Sarahann Hawthorne, Jesse Sweat, Scotty Morris; three great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Keith, Lily Gartman and Easton Allen.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Mack Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Darlene Byrd officiating.
Burial will be in the Elberta Public Cemetery, Elberta, Alabama.
A visitation will be held Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Mack Funeral Home.
