Eleanor Lee Carpenter, age 89, resident of Fairhope, lovingly known as, Mom, Gammama, Aunt Sis, Aunt Eleanor, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018.

She was a former vice president of Emperor Clock Company and the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce. Eleanor was on the board of directors of the Alabama Sheriff's Boys and Girls Ranch from 1978-1987.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles F. Carpenter Jr.; sons-in-law, Lee Turberville and Larry Kerr; and nine sisters and brothers.

Eleanor is survived by four children, Cindy (Nelson) Wingo, Sue Kerr, Jan Turberville, Charles "Buzz"Carpenter; nine grandchildren, Ashley (Michael) Kucera, Bridget (Sam) Beckum, John (Christy) Wingo, Haden (Lana) Giddings, Chad (Natalie) Giddings, Chase (Mary Britton) Turberville, Paige (Trent) Crawford, Codi (Max) Dearing and Marlee Carpenter; 12 great-grandchildren, Keagan, Addison, Brooklyn, Ellie, Callie, Caroline Grace, Catherine, Caden, Gray, Ames, Thompson and Ann Douglas. She is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews, with special thanks to Ima Jean Bounds, Brenda Lee Nelson, Ricky Lewis and Bo Stewart. Eleanor is survived by a close friend, Ann Luckie and her caregiver, Linda Barnes.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 10, 2018 at 3 p.m. at the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.

The family wished to extend a grateful thank you to her dedicated doctors, McDuff, Bunch, Dearing and Pluscht.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association.
