FOLEY - Ralph Eastburn, a longtime resident of Foley, has announced his candidacy for the Foley City Council District 3 Seat in the upcoming election to be held on Tuesday, Aug. 25.

Boasting a lengthy resume of founding and managing successful businesses, and with additional leadership experience gained overseas in the Marine Corps, Eastburn is looking to bring his varied skills and expertise to the council. Eastburn has been involved over the past 35 years in development of several subdivisions in the area. He built the state-of-the-art sewer system in Orange Beach, and owned it from 1980 to 1990. He was also the owner and manager of Gulf Realty Investment & Mortgage Co., Waste Water Management, Inc., Island Bay Utilities, Baldwin County Sewer Authority, Pleasure Island Sewer Service, the president of Southern Builders & Development Co. and National Properties & Capital Resources.

“My family and I have been living, working and playing in Foley and neighboring communities for decades. We care deeply about our clean air and water and our good schools, but also about the development that is often required to ensure we have good jobs for our citizens, good neighborhoods and an adequate tax base to provide the services Foley wants and deserves,” said Eastburn. “I would be honored to serve the people of the city I was raised in and have loved to call home almost my entire life.”

In addition to his military and business leadership roles, Eastburn spent 20 years as an air traffic controller including twelve years as president of the Air Traffic Controllers Union in Pensacola RATCC. A graduate of Foley High School with honors in Citizenship, Sports and Science, Eastburn went on to Auburn University where he majored in Industrial Management, although his time at Auburn was interrupted by his military service.

"Ralph is a leader and a problem-solver. He brings the skills that will make a positive and lasting difference for our city,” said local attorney and retired Marine Broox Holmes. “Let's get behind Ralph and get this done!"
